Free angora sweater pattern for crew neck
sweater (seen above)-fits up to 42" chest:
FRONT:
With size 8 needles cast on 70 stitches, knit 2 purl 2 rib for 3".
Change to size 9
needles and
stockinette stitch continue until piece is 20" long, place
center 26 stitches on stitch holder. Knit each shoulder separately
another 6 rows and bind off.
BACK: Repeat
front until piece is 21" long, place center 25 stitches on stitch
holder. Knit each shoulder separately for 2 rows and bind off.
Sew one shoulder seam, with #8 needles pick up 6 stitches from
front, pick up 25 sts. from holder and 8 from front and back inside
shoulder side, pick up the 25 sts. from other holder and 2 more from
back - knit 1 purl 1 for 5 rows. Bind off in rib.
SLEEVES: Cast on 32 stitches on #8 needles, knit 2 purl 2
for 10 rows - change to size 9 needles and knit one row/purl one row
increasing one stitch on each end of sleeve every 6th row. Continue
until piece measures 21" and bind off. Do 2 sleeves and fold in
half. Making certain the center of the sleeve matches the center of
shoulder seam stitch sleeve onto sweater body and then stitch up
sleeve. Add some thin (bead) elastic to the cuff for added
strength.
